Little Miss Vivi Tops August Digital Sale

The August Digital Sale on Fasig-Tipton Digital closed Tuesday afternoon with gross sales of $5,790,000 for 198 horses sold. The clearance rate was 86%.

Little Miss Vivi (hip 42), in foal to Gunite, sold for $280,000 to Sobhy Sonbol to top the sale. The mare was consigned by Legacy Bloodstock, agent for Tommy Town Thoroughbreds. By Uncle Mo, Little Miss Vivi is a daughter of Canadian champion Embur’s Song and a half-sister to the dam of Lovcen, winner of the first two legs of this year’s Japanese Triple Crown.

“There was a really diverse marketplace for this mare,” said Tommy Eastham of Legacy Bloodstock. “The reach of the Fasig-Tipton Digital platform is incredible. It was a genuinely diverse marketplace, with a wide range of buyers showing interest in this mare… I had interest from three different countries – Canada, Japan, and the United States. I believe she has been bought to stay in the U.S., although Sobhy Sonbol, who purchased her, is based in Egypt. I also had a Japanese representative come out to the farm to evaluate her.”

“That was an awesome sale,” said Leif Aaron, Fasig-Tipton Director of Digital Sales. “There was an 86% clearance rate overall, with racehorses at a 92% clearance rate. We had 1,247 registered bidders and we had a horse looked at by 1,785 potential buyers – can you imagine having a horse at a sale looked at that many times?”

Chopsticks (hip 21), a stakes winning daughter of Essential Quality, was signed for by Chopsticks Stable for $270,000 as the sale’s top racing/broodmare prospect. She was consigned by Vinery Sales, agent. Chopsticks won the Ellis Park Debutante S. in just her second start as a juvenile and has earned $196,388 to date.

“We couldn’t be happier with the results for Chopsticks and Bracelet ($160,000),” said Andrew Cary. “We really enjoy selling on the Fasig-Tipton Digital platform, particularly horses like these that have a story behind them and where you can communicate that story to potential buyers.”

Rounding out the top five sold were:

• Bracelet (hip 17), sold for $160,000 to All In Breeding Partners from the consignment of Vinery Sales, agent. Bracelet is a winning daughter of Authentic sold as a racing/broodmare prospect.
• Lustica (hip 38), sold for $160,000 to Emcee Stable from the consignment of Turning Point Bloodstock, agent. The Street Sense mare was offered in foal to Yaupon.
• Just Got Paid (hip 33), sold for $135,000 to NRCLUB, LLC, from the consignment of White Pine Thoroughbreds, agent. The juvenile son of Olympiad was offered as a horse of racing age.

“It is a huge undertaking to get this many sellers and buyers lined up for a sale,” added Aaron. “We are very proud of our team for pulling this off. We’re really looking forward to the October and December Digital Sales and are already seeing people getting excited about the breeding season – the top three prices were all breeding stock.”

The next digital sale is the October Digital Sale, to be held October 8-13. Entries close September 28.
