California Fall Yearlings catalogue now available

Fasig-Tipton has catalogued 293 entries for its California Fall Yearlings sale, to be held on Wednesday, September 30, at Fairplex in Pomona, California.  The sale will begin at 11 am PDT.

“We’re very pleased with how this year’s catalogue came together,” said Mike Machowsky, Fasig-Tipton California Representative. “The catalogue has grown in size by 10 percent from last year and the strength of sire power, both nationally and locally, is excellent.”

Sires represented by yearlings in this year’s catalogue include Arcangelo, Clubhouse Ride, City of Light, Corniche, Cyberknife, Dr. Schivel, Early Voting, Golden Pal, Grazen, Hard Spun, Jackie’s Warrior, Maxfield, McKinzie, Omaha Beach, Olympiad, Practical Joke, Sir Prancealot (IRE), Smiling Tiger, Stay Thirsty, Uncle Mo, Vekoma, Volatile, and Yaupon.

The year’s sale will offer a $500,000 bonus to the first sale graduate from this year’s auction to win a Grade 1 race in the United States at age two or three.  The bonus will be divided between the owner of the horse at the time of the Grade 1 win, and the owner of the horse when it was offered at this year’s auction.  Horses sold, or RNA’d, both qualify.

“The $500,000 bonus adds extra sizzle and intrigue to this year’s sale,” said Machowsky. “It should draw greater attention from buyers across the country to the auction, which consistently produces high-quality, well-raised yearlings. With benefits for sellers as well, we believe the bonus encouraged breeders to catalogue more of their quality yearlings this year—horses they may have retained or sold elsewhere in the past.”

Pictured on the front of this year’s catalogue are a pair of California-bred Champions of last year: Mohaven, champion two-year-old female; and Ocean Bear, champion two-year-old male.  Both are graduates of the 2024 California Fall Yearlings Sale.
