FASIG-TIPTON NOVEMBER SALE STAR-STUDDED WITH QUALITY

Fasig-Tipton has catalogued 188 offerings for its Selected Mixed Sale on Sunday November 2nd, from 3:00 p.m., at its Newtown Paddocks headquarters in Lexington, Kentucky. There are approximately 80 racing and/or broodmare prospects, with 50 in-foal mares and 52 weanlings.

One of the features of the single-session auction is the very high percentage of graded stakes-winners on offer. There are 18 females with direct G1-winning qualifications, 15 G2 winners and 18 G3 winners. To dissolve partnership interests, John Sikura’s Hill ‘n’ Dale and Michael Moreno’s Southern Equine will offer a group of mares including Broodmare of the Year Better Than Honour, G1 winner Madcap Escapade, in foal to A.P. Indy and G1 winner Point Ashley, in foal to Distorted Humor.

Consigned by Hill ‘n’ Dale Sales, Agency, Better Than Honour will be the final offering in the 2008 November sales catalogue. The twelve-year-old is the only mare in North American racing history to produce two winners of the G1 Belmont Stakes – Jazil and his Eclipse-winning champion half-sister Rags to Riches.

FASIG-TIPTON LAUNCHES VIRTUAL CATALOG
An Industry First, The November Sale Catalog is Now Available as a Full Online Version With Race Videos

Lexington, KY (October 7, 2008) – Fasig-Tipton, the thoroughbred industry’s oldest auction company, has launched a full online version of The November Sale catalog, featuring 188 offerings. The breakthrough technology comes complete with race videos of Graded Stakes Winners and a unique “book-like” interface that allows the user to turn virtual pages.

“This technology will allow prospective thoroughbred buyers the opportunity to find all of the pertinent sale information in one central location,” said Fasig-Tipton Marketing Director Terence Collier, “The added accessibility will help buyers view both race video and catalog information simultaneously.”

The virtual catalog is graphically identical to the print version. Users are able to point, click, and turn the pages in a three-dimensional environment. As you drag the mouse, the pages move with you.

Race footage of offered Graded Stakes Winners is available on their catalog page. Designed for maximum ease of use, the video plays directly on the page instead of forcing the user to open a new window.

“The virtual catalog is just one more step towards helping buyers identify and research potential purchases as easily as possible,” said Collier.

The catalog can be accessed at this website.

FASIG-TIPTON REMOVES MIDLANTIC FEBRUARY MIXED SALE FROM 2009 CALENDAR

Fasig-Tipton’s Midlantic division has announced that it will not include a February Mixed Sale at Timonium in its 2009 auction schedule. A two-year-olds in training sale in May, around Preakness weekend, a fall yearling sale in September/October and a mixed sale in December will make up the company’s annual Timonium calendar.

Speaking from the company’s Fair Hill office, local sales director Paget Bennett noted that past February sales have been only lightly supported.

“Over the past few years, our numbers indicate a preference from consignors for our mixed sale in early December, which has proved a popular regional and national venue.

“After our December Sale this year, we will use the break as an opportunity to renovate parts of the sales grounds and pavilion for our opening sale in May 2009.”
