The 2026 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Yearlings sale kicked off on Monday with the first of four sessions held at the Newtown Paddocks in Lexington, KY.

A colt by Constitution (hip 328) sold for $360,000 to KSI to top the session (video). Woods Edge Farm, agent, consigned. The gray or roan colt is out of multiple stakes winner Team of Teams and multiple winner producer, from the immediate family of influential sire War Front.

"We're very happy," said Peter O'Callaghan of Woods Edge Farm. "He's a lovely colt. A good Constitution, beautiful made, a correct horse, great mover, racy-looking horse with a lovely pedigree."

"We love this sale," added Jenny O'Callaghan, remarking on the sale's place on the calendar. "He just needed that time to 'man up.' We always had such faith in him. He was a real standout in our consignment today."

The session's top filly is a daughter of Twirling Candy (hip 276), sold for $325,000 to First Row Partners from the consignment of Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent. The dark bay or brown filly is out of the stakes placed Super Saver mare Super Tigress, from the immediate family of European champion Hold That Tiger. Hip 376 was bred in Kentucky by Fred W. Hertrich III.

"It was a solid opening session to the Kentucky October Yearlings sale," said Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning. "Good solid trade, plenty of activity on the grounds this weekend and today. All in all, a good start."

A colt by Tapit (hip 119) sold for $300,000 to VBS, Main Line Racing, in partnership with Avalon Stables, from the consignment of Gainesway, agent. Out of the Grade 1 placed stakes winning Lemon Drop Kid mare Sea Queen, the gray or roan colt is a half-brother to stakes winner Where's Chris (Twirling Candy). Hip 119 was bred in Kentucky by Gainesway Thoroughbreds.

"This is our early venture into buying colts," said Dr. Louis Bucky of Main Line Racing. "I have my grandson here today, so he bought the first colt for the partnership and we're very optimistic, very excited."

Added Bucky's grandson while visiting his purchase back at the barns: "I love this horse."

A colt by Gun Runner (hip 123) sold for $300,000 to MWG from the consignment of Brookdale, agent. The bay colt is out of Season Ticket (IRE), an unraced Galileo half-sister to multiple champion and Grade 1 winner producer Tepin. Hip 123 was bred in Kentucky by Yulong Investments.

"$300,000 is a good result," said Brookdale's Freddy Seitz. "Our client is very happy. It's a great sale for a horse like that, a nice mover, a great pedigree. He seemed like he fit well here, so we're really happy with the result."

Overall, 265 yearlings sold for $15,294,000 during the opening session, good for an average of $57,713. The median rose 23% to $37,000 from last year's opening session median of $30,000.
