Multiple G2 Winner Forbidden Kingdom Tops May Digital Sale

The May Digital Sale closed early Tuesday evening with 75 horses sold for $3,252,100. The catalogue featured two-year-olds, horses of racing age, breeding stock, and yearlings.

Forbidden Kingdom (Hip 21), offered as a racing/stallion prospect, sold for $310,000 to Legacy Ranch from the consignment of Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent for MyRacehorse and Spendthrift Farm. At 3, the son of American Pharoah won the San Vicente S. (G2) and San Felipe S. (G2) and finished second in the Malibu S. (G1) on the dirt at Santa Anita. At 4, he made a successful switch to turf, winning the Joe Hernandez S. (G2) at Santa Anita in December. To date, Forbidden Kingdom has a record of 4 wins, 3 seconds, and 2 thirds from 13 career starts and earnings of $680,000.

Other top sellers included:

  • Such Sounds (Hip 6), a young broodmare by Cairo Prince, sold for $250,000 to Machmer Hall from the consignment of River Oak Farm, agent for Forever Spring Farm et al. A winner on the track, Such Sounds was offered bred to Constitution for 2025 for her first foal.
  • Man Among Men (Hip 29), a racing/stallion prospect, sold for $220,000 to Howell Wynne from the consignment of Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent for MyRacehorse and Spendthrift Farm. The son of War Front entered the sale off a victory in allowance company over a mile at Santa Anita on May 5 in which he recorded a career-best 91 Beyer and career-best Ragozin of 11.

"It was another strong sale across the board," said Leif Aaron, Director of Digital Sales. "Compared to last year's May sale, we doubled the number offered, more than doubled the gross, and saw a healthy rise in the average price. I'm very pleased with the results."

Overall, 75 horses sold for $3,252,100, good for an average of $43,361. Registered bidders numbered 689. The clearance rate was 75%.
