First Crop Gun Runner Filly Sells for $750,000
Hip 219, a filly from the first crop of Horse of the Year Gun Runner, sold for $750,000 during The November Sale. The bay filly was purchased by Mike Ryan, agent from the consignment of Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent.
Gun Runner won 12 races in his historical career, with six Grade 1 victories, including the Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) and Pegasus World Cup Invitational S. (G1). He was named Horse of the Year and Champion Older Dirt Male for his four-year-old campaign and earned nearly $16,000,000 in his impressive career. His first foals are weanlings this year.
This filly is out of multiple Grade 1 winner Love and Pride, by successful broodmare sire A.P. Indy. She has already produced three foals of racing age to date, all of them winners. Third dam is Grade 1 winner and multiple graded stakes winner Cara Rafaela, who is notably the dam of Bernardini, an Eclipse Champion as a racehorse and a top sire.
Hip 219 was bred in Kentucky by Three Chimneys Farm.
