Gary Young Gets Tonalist Colt for $385,000 Late
Hip 597, a colt from the first crop of multiple Grade 1 winner Tonalist, sold for $385,000 as one of the final hips through the ring at the Midlantic Two-Year-Olds in Training sale. The chestnut colt was purchased by Gary Young from the consignment of Eddie Woods, agent after working an eighth in 10.2 (video).
A graduate of the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale, Tonalist was a track record-setting four-time Grade 1 winner who retired with earnings in excess of $3.6 million.
This colt is the second foal out of the winning Unbridled’s Song mare You Make Me Sing. That mare is a half-sister to five other winners, including multiple Grade 1 winning millionaire You, who is in turn the dam of Grade 2 winner You and I Forever and stakes winner Causeway’s Kin. This is the immediate family of Grade 1 winning millionaire Marquetry.
