Servis, DJ Stable Secure Tapit Colt for $325,000
Hip 589, a colt by three-time leading sire Tapit, sold for $325,000 late in the final session of the Midlantic Two-Year-Olds in Training sale. The dark bay or brown colt was purchased by John Servis, agent for DJ Stable from the consignment of Pike Racing, agent after working and eight in 10.3 during the under tack show (video).
Leading sire in 2014, 2015, and 2016, Tapit is responsible this year for top colts like Wood Memorial S. (G2) Tacitus, currently pointing towards the Belmont S. (G1), and Souper Tapit, winner of last weekend’s Eclipse S. (G2). He is also the sire of champion Hansen and Grade 1 winning colts Frosted, Tonalist, and Tapwrit, among others.
This colt is out of the Mr. Greeley mare With Intention, dam of Maftool, a Group 3 winner in England the Dubai and the earner of $726,862. With Intention is herself a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Abraaj, graded stakes winner Leelanau, and stakes winner All Trumps. The immediate family also includes Grade 2 winners How About Now and Lovely Lil.
Hip 589 was previously offered at the Fasig-Tipton July Sale of selected yearlings, where he was purchased by Pike Racing for $155,000 from the consignment of Gainesway.
