Belladona Racing Gets Bayern Filly for $350,000
Hip 580, a filly from the first crop of multiple Grade 1 winner Bayern, sold for $350,000 late in the final session of the Midlantic Two-Year-Olds in Training sale. The chestnut filly was purchased by Belladonna Racing LLC from the consignment of Wavertree Stables, agent after working an eighth in 10.1 during the under tack show (video).
A graduate of the 2013 Midlantic Two-Year-Olds in Training sale, Bayern was a four-time graded stakes winner whose victories included the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) and Haskell Invitational S. (G1). He also set a new track record in the Pennsylvania Derby (G2) at Parx on his way to earnings of nearly $4.5 million.
This filly is out of the Pure Prize mare Weight No More, already the dam of four winners from five to race, including seven-time winner Skinny, who is also stakes placed. Weight No More is a half-sister to 10 winners, including: multiple stakes winner Beefchopper; Jamie O Eight, who produced graded stakes winner Eastern Sand; and Eastern Nola, dam of stakes winner Format.
