Cairo Prince Colt to Eclipse for $350,000
Hip 420, a colt from the second crop of talented juvenile Cairo Prince, sold for $350,000 at the Midlantic Two-Year-Olds in Training sale. The gray or roan colt was purchased by Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners from the consignment of Cary Frommer, agent after working an eighth in 10.1 (video).
This colt is by Cairo Prince, sire of four stakes winners already in his first crop, including Iroquois S. (G3) winner Cairo Cat. Cairo Prince, a Grade 2 winner himself at 2 and 3, is currently a top-three second crop sire.
Hip 420 is the second foal out of Renee’s Queen, by After Market, a stakes winner at Del Mar at 2. That mare is a half-sister to five other winners, including graded stakes winner Mighty Caroline and multiple stakes winner Cyclogenesis. Fourth dam is multiple Grade 1 winner Over All.
This colt was previously offered at the 2018 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale, where he was purchased for $200,000 by Glenangus Farm from the consignment of Woodford Thoroughbreds.
