Hip 278, a colt by Triple Crown hero American Pharoah, sold for $315,000 during the first session of the Kentucky October Yearlings sale. The gray or roan colt was purchased by Pick View LLC from the consignment of Candy Meadows Sales, agent.
American Pharoah, whose efforts in the 2015 Triple Crown and Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) earned him Horse of the Year honors, is the current Leading Freshman Sire by earnings and winners. He is represented well in his first crop of Jessamine S. (G2) winner Sweet Melania, Futurity S. (G3) winner Four Wheel Drive, Prix du Bois (G3-FR) winner Maven, and Skidmore S. winner Another Miracle. American Pharoah is also the sire of G1 placed winners American Theorem (in the United States) and Monarch of Egypt (in Ireland).
This filly is out of the stakes placed winning Exchange Rate mare Counterparty. That mare is a daughter of 10-time winner and three-time stakes winner Passionate Bird. The immediate family includes graded stakes winner Snuck In and multiple stakes winners Lotta Lovin and Warning Zone.
