Magnier to $950,000 for American Pharoah Colt

Hip 191, a colt from the second crop of Triple Crown champion American Pharoah sold for $950,000 during the second session of The Saratoga Sale. The bay colt was purchased by M.V. Magnier from the consignment of St George Sales, agent.

This colt is by 2013 Saratoga Sale graduate American Pharoah, won eight Grade 1 events in his career, including the 2015 Kentucky Derby (G1), Preakness S. (G1), Belmont S. (G1), and Breeders' Cup Classic (G1), in which he set a new track record. American Pharoah was an Eclipse Champion at 2 and Champion and Horse of the Year at 3, and retired with career earnings of $8,650,300.

Hip 191 is out of multiple stakes winner Bon Jovi Girl, by Malibu Moon, already the dam of graded stakes winner You're To Blame (Distorted Humor). Bon Jovi Girl is a half-sister to three-time champion Gio Ponti, a seven-time Grade 1 winner who retired with 12 wins and earnings of $5,369,800. Dam is also a half-sister to graded stakes placed stakes winners Fisher Pond and Antonia Autumn. This is the immediate family of Group 1 winner Salt Spring (ARG).

The February foal was bred in Kentucky by Pursuit of Success LLC.
